Default the worklog of 87 AE86's 87 AE86! - 02-29-2008, 10:24 PM

I should have started this log a long time ago when things were still new and fresh in my head. But oh well, here goes~!

I had a 85 AE86 back in the day (1998/1999). Got broken into, rear-ended & repaired, misc things go wrong with it, then sold it. BIG MISTAKE. I've missed the AE86 the day after I sold it. Here's what I HAD:

So after like 7 or so years of looking for a cleaner Corolla, I finally found one in Portland, OR via Craigslist. The 1st 3 photos are from the actual ad and the last one is the day after I got her home.
It's an 87 GT-S, stripped interior and nothing done to it except for having Espilir springs.

No interior except for the front seats, dash and door panels!
I scrubbed the shit out of the trunk area-it was NASTY. Now it's all good.

Needed new wiper blades since the ones on it were shit. The driver's side is for the Celica All Trac. Notice the little blade on the blade? And the passenger is stock Corolla. I went this rout because the "new style" blades from Toyota look like shit.

So I found some carpet, seats and interior pieces from some good people off of good 'ol HR.net

Also, when in L.A., got these clean GT-S seats from Wesley Hamachi (drift driver from L.A./West Covina)
Cleaned them up a bit, then broke them down and shipped them to myself from L.A. to Seattle. Wasn’t expensive at all!

Back at home, needed some exhaust, so good ol Rod (a.k.a. Rod's Wagon, R.I.P.) hooked me up with one of the last KBD headers around, brand new too!
Got the header hooked up to T3 test pipe then to HKS HiPower exhaust.

Oh yeah, took off that gay ass GT Grant wheel and put on my old Momo Monte Carlo that I got from Pro-Motion wayyyyy back in the day (like 1992-ish) and slapped in the old school HKS turbo timer (to run the car and get her warm inside for the cold days!)

Scored a TRD short shifter from Delphi (Kenny), and jacked Strmdr23 (Ivan)’s SSR Mesh wheels

Had to do something with the squishy suspension, so an upgrade is needed. Got some Tokiko HTS adjustable shocks (Marcus) and TRD 8kg front, 6kg rear springs, and a pair of Revolver RCAs from Intec and a TRD anti-sway bar.

Compared to the Espilirs that was in the car

Along with alarm had to get the detachable wheel doo-dah and the lock cover (not pictured).

Next I got the T3 front & rear strut bars from Sideglide (Brandon) and forgot to take pictures when I got them, so the picture you see below is when I actually got my Section rear bar, and I decided to put the T3 back where it was originally. I figured, “why not”? You’ll see the front bar around here somewhere in this worklog.

Here’s a shot of the T3 front strut bar as I removed my hood for something…

Now I needed some JDM goodness going on. Ordered the stuff from work, and of course, among all the excitement, I forgot to take some snaps of the goods before they went to paint and after I installed them.

And also installed the radiator cooling plate, a super sweet deal from Mr.US_AE86 (Chris)

Oh, and some smoked JDM corners and new eyelid garnishes are in need as well!

And time to toss out them raggedy crusty brake hoses! How about some Endless stainless steel braided hoses with clear over them?

Then I had to do something about the terrible lighting, so HIDs are getting put in my old ass Hella H4 housings (I got the Hella housings around the same time I got the Momo wheel -1992-ish.)

Me & Ivan in Chinatown, the night he was crying like a little girl cuz my lights are too bright…

Needed to make the JDM corner lenses a bit different, so when in Hawaii for my sister in-law’s wedding, I stopped by Munky Wurks in Honolulu and grabbed these (Thanks Shawn for the deal!)

Next up was installing the Do Luck frame bar from Intec…

Needed to freshen things up a bit maintenance-wise, so I replaced a few items: T-Belt & accessory belts, valve cover gaskets, grommets, cam & crank seals, water pump, t-stat, plugs, wires, distributor ass’y, dump all the fluids (engine, trans, diff and coolant), replaced dying starter and alternator, and of course, all parts replaced were with factory Toyota parts. No Schmucks here sucka! I only got snaps of the alt & starter. Again, forgot to snap away of the stuff I replaced. D-oh!
