Default HELP!!! TE72 Charging Issue - 04-01-2012, 09:29 PM

My alternator and battery went dead. Purchased a new battery and alternator from Toyota. Installed everthing. Still no charge coming from the alternator. Checked the fuse box, and it's good. Volt meter reads 12.2 should be around 14. Charge light and brake light on the instrument panel stay on.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT COULD BE WRONG?!?

Thanks.

Have not had the alt tested...just figured it's good since it is brand new from Toyota.

Take it to Auto zone or Oriellys and have them do a quick test in car..

I've had new parts turn out bad...twice in a row on more than just a starter/alternator.

What Will said.

Does anyone know how to test or jump the voltage regulator? Cause I'm wondering it's that or the alternator...

Hmmm, some E7 have external voltage regulators... If your car has an external regulator... then it could be that......

Yup, voltage regulator. You're supposed to change it when u replace the alternator. $30 @ autozone.

Yes, my car does have an external voltage regulator. Does anyone know how I can verify/check the voltage regulator is the issue before I purchase one. Toyota does not allow returns on electronics.

the other option is to get a saturn alternator with an internal regulator and swap it out with that, check out 3tcgarage for the write-up
